Play your XBox multiplayer games online without XLive:
XLink Kai is a global gaming network - bringing together XBox, Playstation
2, Gamecube, DS, and PSP users, in one integrated community. It is software
running on your PC or Macintosh that allows you to play system-link enabled games
online for free. Kai is the only service that is not console specific, and boasts one
of the friendliest communities available.

Turn your Xbox into a media center similar to a TiVo:
XboxMediaCenter (XBMC) is a multimedia player jukebox for Microsoft Xbox
game console, it is capable of playing back almost all known video, audio and picture
formats from the Xbox hard drive, Xbox DVD-ROM, from a local network or even from
Internet. Grab the software here:

What is very interesting is there are companies, who are taking XBMC,
Linux and MythTV to sell commercial versions of this combo. MythTV is
an Open Source PVR software that runs under Linux. It has been ported
to the Xbox and can be found here:

FriendTech is marketing their DreamX MCE (Media Center Edition) to be a
very cheap ($399 vs. $1,599) and comparable box to the Dell Media
Center PC using Microsoft\'s Media Center. Check out the comparison chart
on what they believe this combo can offer you:

Map sites get you to your destination correctly:
Tired of ending up in front of McDonalds when you should be at your
friends house as far as MapQuest says? Well we have found some good other
mapping sites that work better and have more features than MapQuest in
some cases.
Map24 is the latest and greatest. This map is in Java and allows you to
zoom, scroll and even draw distance lines (as the crow flies). Very cool.
It has also shown to be more accurate than MapQuest in CA. Check it out
here:

Other options that dont quite have as many features but have shown to get
you to your destination when MapQuest did not are the following:
* Rand McNally - The defacto standard for many
paper maps. It would seem they should have the
more accurate maps by being in the business as
long as they have.

* Yahoo - Yahoo maps has served to be very accurate and got folks to their
destinations where MapQuest did not. Check it out here:

Clone an important website with HTTrack to view offline:
This Open Source app will allow you to copy entire websites to your hard
drive for viewing offline. With websites going up and down so
frequently, some sites you may want to keep as reference. This app
allows you to do that. It copies everything the images, html, etc. Very
cool to also use to backup websites.
