You just got a brand new DVD burner but have no idea which media to get

TIP: DVD-5 is single sided, single layer. DVD-9 is the new single sided
dual layer (most movies you buy are this format). The next big one will
be double sided, dual layer or DVD-18. DVD5 is 4.7GB, DVD9 is 8.5GB, and
DVD18 is 17.08GB.

Use a XM-PCR or XMD1000 to get free MP3s saved to your HD:
If you are looking for a way to literally just record MP3\'s while you are
sleeping song after song into your hard drive then this is for you.
When someone wrote an application that will allow you to save XM music
to your hard drive using the XM-PCR, XM pulled this product off the
shelves. About a month ago this box could only be found on eBay for
around $400 even though it sold for less than $100 retail. Now there
are three options. Since the XMD1000 hack was released the XM-PCR has
lost its edge and now goes for about $239 as of this writing. Here are
your options:
1) Go on eBay and buy a XM-PCR. Then buy XM radio service. Download
and buy TimeTrax Classic for $34.99 here:

2) Timetrax seeing that they were losing business with the XM-PCR
disappearing, they developed hardware to interface to a widely available
XM receiver the XMD1000 (XM Direct 1000). For $99 you can get timetrax
complete which is the software, timetrax adapter, and a xmd1000 plus
cables. For $49.99 you can get the software, xmd1000, and all cables.
3) Someone has also developed a knock-off of the timetrax adapter. For
$30 you can get PCLink Direct on eBay. It is the same product made by a
3rd party.
TECH NOTE: Keep in mind all audio is not routed through either
the USB connection (on XM-PCR) or the serial connection from the timetrax adapter
or the pclink direct. These connections (serial/USB) are only for
control, such as current program on all channels, the start and end of a
song and the synchronizing of the MP3 recording to properly record the
song.

Rip Shoutcast internet streams to your HD:
In the previous tip we talked about how to rip XM radio streams.
Problem is you still need to purchase a XM radio account to get the
streams in addition to the software. A lot of free streams are available
on the net using shoutcast servers to stream the audio. Well here are
some tools you can use to rip those streams to files as well costing
you zero cash:
